Concerto for Piano and Orchestra

Two versions

In 2016, the renowned french ensemble, Ensemble Intercontemporain, gave the world premiere of the second version for piano and chamber orchestra in a concert at the Philharmonie de Paris, led by Vimbay Kaziboni, with Dmitri Vassilakis as soloist.

The first version was originally written for full orchestra when Rune Glerup was still a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. In 2012 it was featured at the Venice Biennale in a concert with the SWR Symphony Orchestra.

The piece can be performed in both versions.

Watch & listen

In 2019 the concerto was featured at a concert at KLANG - Copenhagen Avantgarde Music Festival, in a collaboration between Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen and Esbjerg Ensemble conducted by Pierre-André Valade - a long time friend and collaborator of Rune Glerup, with Jonas Olsson as soloist.
